Hi! My name is Abigail Smith, and I am studying Business Management at Chatham University. Once I graduate, I would to pursue a career in business, however, integrate some math into the job. I thoroughly enjoy math, so I would like my career to involve that as well.  Previously, I studied a semester of Interior Architecture.  So in the future, I would like to open and run a small interior design business.

             The role model I have chosen to interview was my cousin Janell Johnson. She received her MBA at Chatham University, with a Healthcare Administrate track. In her free time, she enjoys CrossFit, traveling, and home improvement. In addition to earning her undergraduate and graduate degrees, she was a member of the Black Student Association, QIT Fellowship, and Jonas Salk Fellowship. Personal Business Plan My mission is to create a positive change in my life through the schooling I will receive at college. Enabling myself to become a professional in the workforce, as well as, giving myself the ability to become successful, and support myself in the future. Business Environment I will be competing in the job industry for “Company Me.” I will be making myself into a product, to which I will sell to potential job marketers. The job industry as a whole has made a significant increase over the past couple years. The unemployment rate is at its lowest percentage sine 2000. However, dependent on the industry one would want to go into, the availability of the job market will differ. There are many forces that influence supply and demand on the job industry as a whole. IA: 05 Reflection on a Guest Speaker

My favorite guest speaker throughout the semester was Rebecca Harris. Rebecca works at Chatham University in the Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship, and is the Executive Director of the program.   The link to her LinkedIn page is here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rebecca-harris-03a81114/ .   When she came and visited our class, she discussed how to start a business, and the attributes needed to be successful while doing so. Her lecture about the process of starting a business, relates back to Chapter 5 in our book. It discusses entrepreneurship and the different sectors one can go into when starting a business. Focusing on the core values to help better your business. Rebecca added her insight from all of her previous jobs, which was very helpful.     In addition, this lecture reminded me of some current business news, talking about new and upcoming businesses in the Pittsburgh area.
